Your Stove: Source of Wealth and Health September 24, 2015
Imagine the delicious smells of the kitchen, with friends or family gathering around as the magic of dinner is created. This time of year, Mother Earth provides us with an abundance of different foods to enjoy cooking and eating: red peppers, eggplants, apples, winter squash, just to name a few. There is nothing like the nourishment and pleasure received from a home cooked meal.
From the perspective of Feng Shui, the stove is considered one of the most important elements of a house. It's a symbol of wealth and health. Everything related to the stove, from its placement in the home to its functionality, is considered important. Can you see your stove as soon as you walk in the front door? Does it share the same wall as your bed? Does it work properly? Do you use it? Your stove relates directly to your wealth and health, effecting these aspects of your life, even if you rarely use it.
Feng Shui Tips for the care of your stove:
- Keep your stove clean.
- Make sure all the burners are in good working order.
- Use all the burners. If you don't eat at home and only heat water, rotate the burner you use to boil your water.
- Clear the stove of pots, pans and teapots when you're done cooking. Keeping things on the stove when they're not in use will affect the Chi (energy) of your stove. Stoves are associated with the fire element and a teapot of water always kept on the stove will dampen the fire chi.
- A mirror behind your stove will give you a view of what's behind you, which will relax you while you’re cooking. This will positively effect the energy that goes into your food. A mirror will also bring light to a space that is typically dark and it will feel like you have another window. Many clients tell me how much they like having a mirror behind their stove and my guests complement mine all the time.
Thank your stove for the good work it does generating wealth and good health for you and your family. Care for it in a way that honors the support and nourishment it provides you, just like Mother Earth.
