Feng Shui is an intricate system of working with our surroundings to bring harmony, prosperity and good health. Feng Shui can be applied to any home, business or property. Our homes are a mirror for every aspect of our lives and Feng Shui provides a way to work with that mirror. I find that the issues my clients are asking me to help them with directly correspond with the Feng Shui issues I find with their building or property. A building is not simple a structure where we live and work. The Feng Shui of a building can have a profound influence on our lives for or against our highest good. At its deepest level, Feng Shui is also a practice of personal growth and is a holistic healing art.

The art of Feng Shui comes from China and dates back approximately 5000 years. The words Feng Shui mean Wind Water. It developed from a time when people’s lives were more intimately connected to the land and the abundance of life was more directly affected by the Wind and Water (the weather). China was an agrarian society and the weather could bring prosperity or famine. The danger of floods, fires, mudslides and storms were of great concern as was protection from invaders. People’s lives depended on insuring a good harvest and they knew that the improper placement of their homes and farms could prove disastrous. Even though today our income may no longer come from the land as a harvest, the abundance in our lives still come from Nature. As in ancient China, the Feng Shui practitioner of today helps people find the balance with Nature to maintain harmony and by extension health, prosperity and happiness. Feng Shui principles have remained the same although they are applied differently today than they were thousands of years ago.

One of the main principles of Feng Shui is Chi Flow. Chi is the life force energy that is inside of us and is all around us in nature. We want to invite this life force energy into our homes thus inviting health and prosperity into our lives. A building’s layout, placement of furniture, and clutter can affect how chi flows within the building. Past events such as foreclosure or the divorce of previous residents can also have an effect on the chi flow of the property. As a Feng Shui Practitioner I am concerned with how chi flows through a building and with the chi of the earth and how this affects the people living or working there. Feng Shui recommendations can be anything from the placement of furniture, to using mirrors, crystals, plants, color, clearing clutter, space clearing ceremonies or blessing ceremonies.

Feng Shui teaches that change is the only constant in life. The balance and harmony created by Feng Shui helps life move smoothly and lends support when changes come our way. Applying Feng Shui to our homes is like a prayer asking that our lives be in alignment with our highest good.

I practice Black Sect Feng Shui also called BTB Feng Shui or Grandmaster Lin Yun’s Feng Shui School. BTB Feng Shui retains the essence of traditional Feng Shui, but has been developed by Grandmaster Lin Yun to meet the concerns of modern people. This approach synthesizes the wisdom of Feng Shui, Tibetan and Chinese Buddhism, Bon, Taoism, Shamanic and folk wisdom with modern design principles, western culture, ecology, modern technology and psychology. It respects all spiritual traditions and other approaches to Feng Shui. BTB Feng Shui is very practical and emphasizes solutions for a wide variety of situations. All of my Feng Shui teachers have been trained directly by Grandmaster Lin Yun and by his senior students.
